Yesterday Parker and I got up at a grossly early hour and drove down to Ft. Benning to watch my friend’s husband take over command of the Army Rangers.
Nothing like having a few thousand cute Army peeps waving at me. Or wait, maybe they were saluting their new colonel. Whatever.
Not only am I proud of HooHah (that’s what I’ve always called him and you can’t make me stop just because he’s all full bird colonel now) but I’m also so glad my friend Mary is back in Georgia. We went to high school together. I know stuff.
It wasn’t so very long ago that HooHah was having the bits of bone that used to comprise his femur rebuilt with metal rods. And then there was the exhaustive task of teaching that cobbled leg to walk again. And run.
And twelve months after the shooting in Iraq which caused the leg explosion, he redeployed. He had to get back to his guys.
What can I say, I was raised an Air Force Brat and I have a soft spot for the military.

Please forgive how icky I look. Did I mention we left the house at 6:30? That’s six thirty Ayy Emm. Also, Parker took this picture so it’s a tad blurry.
Parker was my little trooper for the day. She was so great, not a single complaint about the early hour or the drive. She
passed out took a little nap on the way home.
Congratulations HooHah! Please don’t get hurt again, mmkay?

* Turns out there are no girls in the Rangers. I didn’t want you to think I was just ignoring them because I was flirting with the hot boys in uniform.
Cute army peeps waving? We're jealous.
Congratulations to HooHah! I am always amazed and in awe of those men and women. Brings a little tear to my eye.
I have a soft spot for the military, too. Great post.
Bless HooHah and all the men and women around him in the military for doing a job I couldn't even imagine, and congratulations to HooHah. Hope he never has to obtain any more battle scars!
Awww! Congrats to HooHah (best nic-name EVER.)
We are so lucky for guys like him!
SO COOL.
Saluting.
I salute to Hoohah.
Congrats to HooHah.
*salute from north of the border*
I wish cute army peeps would wave to me, too. Great post. Congratulations, Colonel HooHah. Be safe – you and all of your people.
Before I read this post, I thought it was going to be about vajay-jays. I hope this doesn't taint the nickname for you but I've been known to call "it" a Hoohah…
There's something about a man in uniform. Mmmm.
And no girl Rangers? I had no idea.
Congratulations HooHah! (Hoohah, really?) Totally have a soft spot of my own. I was an air force brat too.
Nothing quite as handsome as boys in uniform….
every one of those men and the women not present have my utmost respect
Wow…that's great that he came back from such an awful injury, made O-6, and is back in the fray.
My sorry ass isn't up for O-5 for another few months, and I still have two good legs.
Wonderful pics. Sending you and HooHah good wishes!
I'm also a military brat….I used to believe into my LATE TEENS that the Passing Out Parade was called that cos they all fainted….go figure…
